Jan Carlson, LCSW-C
Jan is a licensed clinical social worker who has been providing individual, family and group psychotherapy for over 25 years. Jan has particular expertise in helping individuals as they face a variety of life challenges including family and marital discord, peer, school and work difficulties, separation and loss, dealing with chronic illness and disabilities and difficulty with anxiety, OCD, mood disorders, Autism spectrum and ADHD.
Jan approaches therapy from a strengths-based perspective to build resiliency and support positive change and growth. Treatment is provided in a warm, supportive atmosphere and is tailored to each client’s particular needs and unique characteristics. Jan works with clients to develop and practice new skills to cope in a variety of situations and utilizes a wide range of creative modalities and CBT to help clients reach their goals. In working with children and adolescents, Jan works closely with parents to help them understand their child’s struggles and the best way to support their child through the therapy process and strengthen their relationship.
Jan received her masters in Social Work from the University of Maryland. She also holds a B.S. in Occupational Therapy from Indiana University. She has completed advanced training in cognitive behavioral therapy, gestalt therapy, and child, adolescent and family therapy. Jan is also a Maryland Board Approved Supervisor.
