Karen J. Helfrich, LGSW - is a licensed Social Worker who has provided services to clients in a variety of settings since 2002. Karen’s approach is solution-focused, helping clients to identify personal strengths and resources for effective coping and problem-solving. Clients are supported with compassion and understanding while also challenged to make positive changes in order to achieve goals and create well-being. Karen sees children, adolescents, and adults for individual and couples therapy. Karen is experienced in working with eating disorders, depression, anxiety, and adjustment issues.
Karen is currently a Social Worker at Glenelg Country School where she provides counseling and programmatic interventions to Upper School students, parents, and faculty. Karen has developed and presented training for parents on a variety of topics including parent-teen relationships, helping teens make positive choices, teem substance abuse, teen sexuality, and adolescent development. Karen teaches Human Development in 6th through 12th grades.
Karen received her Masters in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University.
